Europe spot MMA prices dip on slightly softer supply/demand levels

LONDON (ICIS)--European methyl methacrylate (MMA) spot prices dropped by €10-30/tonne ($13-40/tonne) this week, because of marginally slower demand and improved availability, sources said on Friday.

While demand is healthier than it was earlier in the year, spot trade is subdued, with a number of players on summer holiday, and some businesses undergoing traditional shutdowns.

Nevertheless, warm weather across Europe and slightly improved economic sentiment have kept buying interest at a good level, and this has limited the extent of the decrease in pricing.

Supply remains tight, following the sales control that was put in place at major producer Lucite International from 17 June until 31 July, but availability has eased in recent weeks.

The spot range is at €1,690-1,740/tonne FD (free delivered) NWE (northwest Europe).
