LONDON (ICIS)--Soda ash demand from the soaps and detergent sector is booming in Turkey because of ongoing unrest in neighbouring Syria, a Turkish producer said on Friday.
Syrian soaps and detergents producers ceased production because of continued civil war in Syria.
As a result, Turkish detergent manufacturers had to ramp up production to meet increased demand from Iran and Iraq. In turn, soda ash consumption also increased in Turkey.
Soda ash is used to produce soaps and detergents, and Turkish detergent producers are now running their plants at full capacity to satisfy increased demand from countries that were traditionally Syria's markets.
