HOUSTON (ICIS)--China’s Hubei Xingfa Chemicals Group will establish its US headquarters and construct a phosphate plant in Effingham County, Georgia, company officials confirmed on Friday.

The plant and offices will establish a phosphate production line that will ship finished product to North American markets via the Port of Savannah, Xingfa said.

Financial details and capacity rates were not disclosed.

Construction is expected to be completed by late 2014, Xinfa said, and the operation would create about 50 jobs.

“Xingfa Chemicals Group is committed to serving North American customers by establishing a manufacturing site in Georgia,” said Guozhang Li, Xingfa CEO. “We are grateful to Georgia and Effingham County for supporting our company and are confident that the wide array of resources they offer will contribute significantly to Xingfa’s continuing success.”

Fine chemical products manufacturer Xingfa started its foray into the phosphate business in 2001 when the company acquired phosphate rock and processing assets. The industrial grade product is utilised as additives in consumer goods such as toothpaste and soap.
