HOUSTON (ICIS)--US September methanol contracts appeared headed for a drop on Tuesday as Southern Chemical Corp (SCC) cut its monthly posting to 159 cents/gal, from 162 cents/gal in August.
Methanex has not issued its number yet. The Canada-based producer and SCC have historically set the US monthly contract range with their postings. Methanex issued 160 cents/gal in August.
Traders and buyers this week said they expected a rollover of the August contracts, at 160-162 cents/gal, because of fairly stagnant spot prices.
