HOUSTON (ICIS)--US July daily ethylene production increased by 7.7% from June according to data made available on Tuesday from consulting firm Jacobs Consultancy in its monthly Hodson Report.

US July daily ethylene production was 151.64m lb/day (68,783 tonnes/day), up from 140.74m lb/day in June.

The increase in daily production was tied to US cracker operating rates increasing to 93.8% from 87.0%.

This was mostly the result of fewer cracker outages, as only the Williams Olefins Geismar cracker in Louisiana was down for the entire month.

Several other crackers experienced outages, but these were all brief, the report said.

Total ethylene production in July was 4.701bn lb, up by 11% from June’s level 4.222bn lb, owing to the higher operating rates and an additional day of production in July compared with June.

Cracker consumption of ethane increased to 29,608bbl in July, up by 15% from 25,694bbl in June.

Ethane was 56.7% of feedstock usage in July, up from 54.5% June. The report said that the average feedslate in July shifted 0.5% lighter, mostly on the increase in ethane usage.
