According to researchers, offers in the Brazilian spot market remained limited, pushing pricing up in most domestic Brazilian markets and improving crushing margins for many producers, buyers and sellers said.
Pricing for hydrous ethanol in the centre-south state of Sao Paulo was at an average of Brazillian reais (R) 1.0894/litre ($1.72/gal, €0.34/litre), an increase of 0.8% during the week ended on 23 August, CEPEA said.
The sugarcane harvest in the centre-south, which accounts for 90% of Brazil's ethanol production, runs from April to November/December.
Brazil also produces ethanol in the northeast region of the country. The sugarcane harvest in that area runs from September to March.
The price does not include taxes or freight, according to the research group.
($1 = €0.75, $1 = R2.40)
