SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Shenda Chemical is planning to start up its new 400,000 tonne/year methanol-to-olefin (MTO) unit at Tenzhou in Shandong province in September 2014, a company source said on Wednesday.

The unit, which is currently under construction, will obtain its methanol feedstock from both the domestic market as well as through imports, depending on the prices at the time of procurement, the source said.

The company will also build derivative 200,000 tonne/year polypropylene (PP) line at the Tenzhou site, according to the source.

Further details of the PP line and other downstream units were not immediately available.
