The settlement requires that the plant’s operational reliability be improved without increasing emissions. The company also will establish a 24-hour hotline to answer community questions about flaring events.
The Javelina site is an off-gas processing plant owned by the Denver, Colorado-based company. It processes approximately 138 million cubic feet (mcf) (3.91 million cubic metres) per day of off-gas from six
“EPA is committed to reducing toxic air pollution from sources that have an impact on the health of our citizens,” said Ron Curry, the EPA's regional administrator. “This agreement has a positive and direct impact on improving air quality and communication for the surrounding community.”
MarkWest did not immediately return a request for comment.
