DUBAI (ICIS)--Saudi International Petrochemical Co (Sipchem) will commercially start up its 100,000 tonne/year ethyl acetate/butyl acetate (etac/butac) plant in Jubail from 1 September, the company said late on Thursday.
“Sipchem would like to announce that the ethyl acetate (EA) & butyl acetate (BA) plant owned by Sipchem Chemicals Company at its complex in Jubail Industrial City will start on Sunday (September 1),” the company said in a statement to the Saudi stock exchange.
The plant was on trial run since May 10.
“Financial impact of the operations will be shown in the financial statements for the third quarter of this year,” it added.
Sipchem will get its feedstocks for the plant from multiple sources, it added.
The etac and butac produced from the plant will likely be used as solvents in the manufacture of inks, industrial solvents and as granules in surface coatings.
