SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Far East Yizheng Chemical Petrochemical (Yangzhou) has submitted its environment impact assessment (EIA) for a planned 1m tonne/year purified terephthalic acid (PTA) plant at Yangzhou in Jiangsu province, a company source said on Friday.

The company is a joint venture between China’s Sinopec Yizheng Chemical Fibre and Taiwan’s Far East New Century (FENC).

The EIA document was submitted to the Ministry of Environment Protection (MEP) on 19 August, according to a notice on the ministry’s website.

The $298m (€226m) plant will be sited at the Yangzhou Chemical Industry Park and is expected to come on stream in July 2015, the document showed.

The MEP typically takes about three months to give its feedback on the EIA of such petrochemical projects, according to industry sources.
