NEW YORK (ICIS)--Huntsman's Port Neches plant in Texas is back up and currently ramping to full production of ethylene oxide (EO) and ethylene glycol (EG), a company official said on Friday.

The official could not comment on the status of the force majeure that it declared on EG on 8 August.

Huntsman declared the force majeure after seeing the need to shut down production at one of its integrated EO/EG towers. A routine inspection showed that the tower had unexpected cracks.

Market sources have said that the force majeure tightened supply during the busy antifreeze buying season. Antifreeze is a major downstream market for monoethylene glycol (MEG).
