SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Changzhou Yabang Chemical shut its 50,000 tonne/year phthalic anhydride (PA) unit at Changzhou in Jiangsu province on 1 September for regular maintenance, a company source said on Monday.
The 50,000 tonne/year PA unit would be shut for 30 days, the source said.
The company’s other PA plant at the same site, with a capacity of 50,000 tonnes/year, is running at full tilt, according to the source.
PA supply in east China is unlikely to be affected by the shutdown as the producer had set aside some inventories ahead of the turnaround, a market player said, adding that the shutdown will likely have little impact on the spot market given weak downstream demand.
