SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Shijiazhuang Bailong Chemical is operating its 30,000 tonne/year phthalic anhydride (PA) line in Hebei province at 50-60%, following its restart on 5 September, a company source said on Friday.
“We are currently running the plant at low operating rates and are expecting to achieve on-spec production this month.” the source added.
The company shut the plant on 21 August as a result of high feedstock orthoxylene (OX) prices, and sluggish downstream demand such as dioctyl phthalate (DOP) and unsaturated polyester resin (UPR) sector, according to the source.
The restart will increase PA supply in east China, a market player said.
