HOUSTON (ICIS)--US July exports of epoxy resins fell by 22% year on year, according to data made available on Friday by the US International Trade Commission (ITC).
US July exports were 11,133 tonnes, down from 14,330 tonnes for the same month a year ago.
Month on month, exports fell by 14% from 12,963 tonnes in June 2013.
Much of the decline in exports is tied to US material being priced higher than overseas product from Asia or Europe.
During July, US material was roughly 9-12 cents/lb ($198-265/tonne, €151-201/tonne) more expensive than imported material.
This also led to an increase in July import volumes, which gained 11% year on year.
US July import volumes of epoxy resins were 9,725 tonnes, compared with 8,789 tonnes a year ago.
Month on month, July epoxy resin imports were up by 19% from 8,157 tonnes in June 2013.
