US July PG exports, imports down more than 50% year on year

NEW YORK (ICIS)--US July exports and imports for propylene glycol (PG) plunged by more than 50% year on year, according to trade data made available on Friday by the US International Trade Commission (ITC).

Exports dropped by 52% to 9,399 tonnes from 19,613 tonnes in July 2012.

Month on month, exports fell by 26% from 12,750 tonnes in June .

US July imports dropped by 53% year on year to 1,781 tonnes from 3,819 tonnes in July 2012.

However, imports increased month on month by 5% from 1,700 tonnes in June.

US PG producers include Archer Daniels Midland, Dow Chemical, Huntsman, LyondellBasell, and Lonza.
