US July ACN exports fell by 48% year on year

HOUSTON (ICIS) – US exports of acrylonitrile (ACN) in July fell by 48% compared with the same month in 2012, according to data released on Friday by the US International Trade Commission (ITC).

Exports were 27,408 tonnes, compared with 52,560 tonnes a year ago.

July exports also fell month on month by 32%. June exports were 40,036 tonnes.

The most US ACN exports went to Korea (18,580 tonnes), Mexico (4,677 tonnes) and Taiwan (3,999 tonnes), the ITC said. 

Major US producers of ACN include Ascend Performance Materials, Cornerstone and INEOS.
