Austria’s Borealis start up new compounding line in Monza, Italy

LONDON (ICIS)--Borealis has started up a new polypropylene (PP) long glass fibre line (LGF) in Monza, Italy, the Austria-headquartered plastics, chemicals and fertilizer producer said on Monday.

Capacity and financial details regarding the line were not disclosed.

Harald Hammer, vice president engineering applications, said: “This start-up will deliver a significant number of kilotonnes per year further underscoring our aim to deliver product and technology innovations for the automotive and the appliance industry.”

The announcement was made at the launch of Borealis and Borouge’s new product range of fibre-based compound PP, Fibremod, for the automotive and the appliance industry. Borouge is a joint-venture between Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) and Borealis.
