HOUSTON (ICIS)--US-based Cargill and Switzerland-based Evolva’s steviol glycosides development programme is moving into pilot scale ahead of the 2014 expected schedule, the companies said on Monday.
Earlier this year, Cargill and Evolva agreed to jointly develop and commercialise fermentation-based steviol glycosides, which would enable large-scale, cost-effective sweetening solutions for food and beverage manufacturers.
“The stevia market is focused on understanding the subtleties of how different steviol glycosides interact to create the most pleasing sweetness profile,” said David Henstrom, global business director for health ingredients at Cargill Corn Milling North America.
“This technology complements Cargill's existing and forthcoming innovations in stevia-based sweeteners.”
