HOUSTON (ICIS)--US refiner Valero had no material impact to production after a fire at its Port Arthur refinery in Texas on Sunday, a company spokesperson confirmed on Monday.
The fire occurred at one of the boilerhouses at the 290,000 bbl/day refinery. The boilerhouses produce electricity for the refinery.
The plant’s emergency response team extinguished the fire and there were no injuries, said Valero spokesperson Bill Day.
Currently, the boilerhouse is not making electricity, but the refinery has increased its purchase power from the local utility. Accordingly, no units lost power or were shut down, according to Day.
