SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Japan’s JX Nippon Oil and Energy is operating its olefins conversion unit (OCU) in Kawasaki at close to 100% capacity after resuming operations at the unit on 9 September, a company source said on Tuesday.
“We expect the unit to reach full capacity this week,’’ the source said.
The OCU, which can produce around 140,000 tonnes/year of propylene, was shut on 19 August following an unplanned shutdown at its 460,000 tonne/year cracker in the same Kawasaki complex.
The cracker, which restarted on 29 August, is now running at 80% capacity, the source said.
The company plans to take the OCU offline again on 25 September for nearly a month of maintenance.
