TOKYO (ICIS)--Japanese acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS) resin producer UMG ABS may delay product deliveries due to the recent fire at its plant in Ube, Yamaguchi prefecture, the company said on Wednesday.

"For the orders of the products manufactured at our Ube plant, we may need to delay delivery dates. In such cases, we will contact our customers individually," the company said in a Japanese statement.

The 100,000 tonne/year ABS plant at the site was shut after a fire late on Sunday, which damaged two tanks for intermediate products of ABS, according to UMG ABS.

The mixing and colouring part of the plant re-started on 9 September after receiving approval from the authorities, but the polymerisation part is still shut, the producer said in the statement.
