HOUSTON (ICIS)--Initial US August styrene contract settlements have emerged at increases of 1-2 cents/lb ($22-44/tonne) this week, according to trade sources on Wednesday.

The increase is in line with some initial price increases last week at 1-2 cents/gal as well, following the 23 cent/gal jump in the September feedstock benzene contract.

August styrene contract prices are expected to be finalised by Friday.

Current July styrene contracts are at 77.75-81.75 cents/lb FOB (free on board).

Although August US styrene contracts were still being settled, producers have already issued price increases for September at 3-4 cents/lb on the back of stronger benzene prices and tight supply expectations.
