SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Xinhai Chemical Group is expected to achieve on-spec bitumen at its 2m tonne/year crude distillation unit (CDU) at Cangzhou in Hebei province on 14 September, a company source said on Friday.
The CDU was started up on 12 September, according to the source.
Bitumen output from the new unit at about 2,400 tonnes/day will be mainly heavy traffic AH-70 grades, the source said.
This would boost bitumen supply in northern China by around 34% to 7,000 tonnes/day, and will effectively fix the existing supply gap in the region, industry sources said.
