LONDON (ICIS)--The European dimethyl terephthalate (DMT) September reference contract price increased from the previous month on Friday, in line with the upstream paraxylene (PX) contract.

The DMT price range is now at €992-1,033/tonne ($1,323-1,377/tonne) FD (free delivered) NWE (northwest Europe), according to ICIS.

Monthly paraxylene (PX) increased by €30/tonne to €1,130/tonne from August to September.

Quarterly methanol rolled over at €390/tonne FOB (free on board) Rotterdam from the second to the third quarter. The outcome of the fourth-quarter contracts will have an impact on October DMT prices.|

Invista's DMT plant in Gersthofen, Germany, is on schedule to permanently shut down towards the end of September, because of competition from purified terephthalic acid (PTA) and PTA-based polymers.
