BRUSSELS (ICIS)--Wilmar International’s natural fatty alcohols plant at Huntsman’s chemical site in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, continues to face start-up delays, a company source said on Friday.
The plant was previously expected to be running by the end of the third quarter but has faced unforeseen delays in its completion.
No reason was given for the delay, but the source said it was hoping for a start up by “late October or November.”
The 120,000 tonne/year plant is owned by Wilmar and is in Huntsman's 85 hectare chemical site in Rozenburg, Rotterdam.
The plant will supply natural alcohols to Huntsman, as well as for the European market.
Buyers remain hopeful that the start up of the plant will help to ease the current tight supply conditions in Europe.
