SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Liaoning Huafon Chemical has postponed the start-up of its 120,000 tonne/year cyclohexanone (CYC) plant at Liaoyang in Liaoning province to August next year, its parent company Zhejiang Huafon Spandex said on Wednesday.

Slower-than-expected construction progress prompted the delay of the start-up of the yuan (CNY) 500m ($82m) plant from September this year, Huafon Spandex said in a statement.

The plant would needs around 230,000 tonnes/year of benzene as feedstock to produce CYC, it said.

Huafon Chemical was supposed to start supplying CYC to DSM Nanjing Chemical at the start of the month under an agreement signed between the two companies, Huafon Spandex said.

Under the deal, Huafon Chemical will supply 48,000-100,000 tonnes of CYC to DSM Nanjing Chemical on an annual basis.

“The delivery date was revised following the later-than-scheduled startup of the plant,” Huafon Spandex said.
