Japan's ABS resin shipments decreases by 2% in August

TOKYO (ICIS)--Japan’s domestic shipments of acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS) resin declined by 2% year on year to 17,843 tonnes in August, official industry data showed on Wednesday.

This was an 11% decrease month on month, according to the Nihon ABS jushi kogyokai (Japan ABS resin industry association).

The country’s exports of ABS resin stood at 11,031 tonnes, down 4% year on year and a 3% decrease month on month, the data showed.

Among domestic ABS shipments, deliveries for car production declined by 6% from the same time a year earlier to 6,867 tonnes, and was down 13% from the previous month, according to the association.

Shipments for home construction materials rose by 2% year on year to 1,952 tonnes, but fell by 13% month on month, based on the statistics.
