TOKYO (ICIS)--Japan’s polystyrene (PS) production in August increased by 18% year on year to 55,033 tonnes, but was down 2% from the previous month, official industry data showed on Wednesday.
Internal demand rose by 5% year on year to 46,581 tonnes, but was 15% lower from July, according to the Japan Styrene Industry Association (JSIA).
The country’s August PS exports, on the other hand, increased 29% from the same period a year earlier to 2,503 tonnes – nearly double the shipments recorded in July.
