Russia's monomer, polymer production up in August

MOSCOW (ICIS)--Russia's overall production of monomers and polymers rose in August compared with the same month last year, Russian statistical agency Rosstat said on Thursday.

Last month, the country's total output of ethylene was up by 20.9% year on year at 198,000 tonnes, while propylene production was 19.8% higher at 95,100 tonnes, Rosstat said.

Russia's total output of polyethylene (PE) rose by 24.1% year on year at 154,000 tonnes, and polypropylene (PP) production was up 25.8% at 70,000 tonnes, it added.

In August, Russia's total production of styrene increased by 22.2% year on year at 41,600 tonnes, while polystyrene (PS) output was 25.7% higher at 31,600 tonnes, according to Rosstat.

Phenol output grew 2.5% year on year at 22,400 tonnes, the agency said.
