Japan's cast PP film production increases 18% in August

TOKYO (ICIS)--Japan's production of cast polypropylene (PP) film increased by 18% year on year to 10,246 tonnes in August, official data from the  Japan Polypropylene Film Industry Association showed on Friday. 

Its domestic shipments rose by 2.1% to 11,417 tonnes from the same time a year earlier, while exports increased by 11% to 300 tonnes, the data showed. 

Meanwhile, the country produced 17,585 tonnes of oriented PP film, a 14% increase from a year earlier, according to the Association. 

Domestic shipments of oriented PP film fell by 1.6% year on year to 16,782 tonnes, while exports were up 38% to 376 tonnes, based on the statistics. 

Both cast PP film and oriented PP film are primarily used for food packaging.
