LONDON (ICIS)--French specialty chemicals producer Arkema announced on Friday that it is to cease production at its phthalic anhydride (PA) and dioctyl phthalate (DOP) plant in Chauny, France, by March 2014.
A company spokesperson attributed the decision to a significant decline in market demand for resins and plasticizers in Europe. The decision will lead to the loss of 71 jobs at Chauny, she added.
The facility has the capacity to produce 70,000 tonnes/year of DOP and 90,000 tonnes/year of PA, according to ICIS data.
