LONDON (ICIS)--The European maleic anhydride (MA) market remains tight this week, although views differ regarding the extent of the supply constraints.
The lack of availability stems from production issues at several plants.
“I think the tight situation is still awful,” one producer said.
Another producer said: “There’s definitely a tight market situation. For 3-4 weeks the market has been short. It’s increased spot prices.”
How long the tight conditions will last is unclear.
Two buyers and a producer spoke of imports from the US and Asia arriving into Europe in October, which should help to ease any remaining tightness.
