SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Japan's Mitsui Chemicals plans to shut its 75,000 tonne/year metallocene ethylene propylene diene monomer (EPDM) unit in Chiba for regular maintenance in October, a company source said on Monday.
The shutdown is expected to last about 20 to 30 days, though a specific starting date has not been decided yet, the source said.
Mitsui Chemicals other 25,000 tonne/year plant at the same site will keep running normally during the shutdown, the source added.
The shutdown will reverse an ample supply situation in the Asian market in the short term, market players said.
