LAS VEGAS (ICIS)--Dow supports the push towards flexible packaging because that sector is showing a strong growth rate, a company official said on Monday at PackExpo 2013.
Of the $700bn (€518bn) global packaging market, flexible packaging accounts for approximately $90bn globally, the official told ICIS at the sidelines of PackExpo.
Global plastics growth is around 5-6%, though that rate varies by region, but the packaging plastics sector is on par with that level of growth,
“This is where we see real market growth opportunities, and where we are trying to convert paper packaging to plastics,” the official said.
He noted that the rigid packaging sector also presents growth opportunity for plastics packaging.
PackExpo 2013 runs through 25 September in Las Vegas, Nevada.
