China August PE, PP imports fall 4.2% from July; down 8.1% on year

SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s imports of polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP) in August totaled 1.21m tonnes, down by 4.2% from the previous month, official data showed on Tuesday.

On a year-on-year basis, the country took in 8.1% less PP and PE volumes in August, according to China Customs data.

China’s PP imports in August slipped 6.2% month on month to 405,900 tonnes, which are 18.9% lower from the same period last year.

Its PE imports, on the other hand, stood at 805,100 tonnes, down 3.1% from the previous month and 1.5% lower compared with the same period last year.
