BANGKOK (ICIS)--Turkey’s polyurethane (PU) demand is expected to grow by more than 5% annually in the next five years, the director of a local industry player said on Tuesday.
“The CASE (coatings, adhesives, sealants and elastomers) segment is set to record the highest annual demand growth of 10%, to 8,000 tonnes in 2018, from a low base of 5,000 tonnes in 2013,” said Nisso Behar, director of Turkey-based PU producer Kimteks Kimya Tekstil Urunerli TIC.
He was addressing delegates at the 2nd ICIS Polyurethane Chain Conference in Bangkok.Demand for flexible foam, used for furniture, bedding and carpet underlays is expected to grow by 6% annually, to 174,000 tonnes in 2018 from 130,000 tonnes in 2013, he said.
The rigid foam segment, used for insulation panels, is estimated to grow by 5% annually to 172,000 tonnes in the next five years, from 135,000 tonnes in 2013, he added.
The two-day conference ends on Wednesday.
