HOUSTON (ICIS)--Solazyme has agreed to supply Unilever with tailored algal oil, the US-based bioproducts firm said on Wednesday.
Solazyme said that under the agreement it would initially supply a minimum 10,000 tonnes of tailored algal oil to Unilever over 12 to 18 months. Deliveries are expected to begin in early 2014.
Solazyme and Unilever jointly developed the oil, which will be produced in ?xml:namespace>
Solazyme CEO Jonathan Wolfson said that Unilever was a valued strategic partner for his company.
“We expect this to be the first of many supply agreements with Unilever,” Wolfson added.
Financial terms were not disclosed.
