Argentina’s August chemical production up by 3.7% year on year

HOUSTON (ICIS)--Argentina’s August chemical production was up by 3.7% year on year, compared with the same month of 2012, industry sources said on Thursday.

Production of basic chemical products was also up by 3.7% in August 2013 compared with the same month of the previous year, said Argentina’s Statistics Institute (INDEC). The institute does not provide tonnage figures for production.

Production of industrial gases rose by 12.7% year on year in August, the group said.

Production of plastic raw materials and synthetic rubber was up by 9.8% in August compared with the same month of 2012.

Agrochemicals production increased by 20.5% in August 2013, while production of pharmaceutical products increased by 1.9% year on year.

Production of detergents, soaps and personal products declined in August by 10.8% compared with the same month of 2012.

Meanwhile, in the plastic products and rubber tyres production bloc, combined production increased by 5.2% year on year in August.

Rubber tyre production was up by 7.0% in August, while production of plastic products in the same month increased by 4.8% year on year, INDEC said.
