HOUSTON (ICIS)--US Chevron Phillips Chemical restarted its No. 33 Sweeny cracker in Texas on Saturday, according to a government filing made available on Monday.
The cracker was shut down on 23 September, according to a filing with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ), after an owl hit a transformer on the site, causing a power disruption.
The cracker, which has an ethylene capacity of 907,000 tonnes/year, was restarted on Saturday, according to another TCEQ filing, which sources confirmed on Monday.
A company spokesperson declined to comment, citing company policy.
