HOUSTON (ICIS)--The carpet market is poised to rebound after a long cyclical downturn, the CEO of specialty chemical producer OMNOVA said on Monday.
Coinciding with the rebound is the move by consumers away from cheaper carpet adhesives toward the higher-performing styrene butadiene (SB) latex adhesives OMNOVA produces, said Kevin McMullen, the company’s chief executive, during a call about the company’s fiscal Q3 earnings.
“We think this is the year that [the carpet market] turns positive,” McMullen said.
OMNOVA manufactures a host of carpet chemicals in its Gencal, Genflo, Novagreen, Omnabloc and Omnatuf lines.
