HOUSTON (ICIS)--US August daily propylene production from crackers fell 8.3% month on month, according to data from consulting firm Jacobs Consultancy made available on Tuesday.

The company’s Hodson Report said that daily propylene production from crackers was 29.44m lb/day (13,354 tonnes/day), down from July’s level of 32.12m lb/day.

Most of the fall was the result of steam cracker operating rates falling to 89.7% in August from 93.3% in July.

The decline in cracker operating rates was mostly attributed to several unplanned outages and one planned maintenance turnaround.

Additionally, the US cracker feedslate shifted 0.2% toward lighter feeds, the report said.

Ethane increased to 58.4% of the feedslate in August from 56.0% in July, while propane fell to 28.2% of the feedslate from 30.7% in July.

Total propylene production from crackers also fell 8.3% month on month, to 913m lb in August from 996m lb in July.
