MELBOURNE (ICIS)--Thai producer PTT Phenol plans to shut its phenol/acetone plant at Map Ta Phut in Rayong province for maintenance in March 2014, a company source said on Friday.

The plant, which can produce 200,000 tonnes/year of phenol and 124,000 tonnes/year of acetone, will be taken off line in early March to undergo around 40 days of regular maintenance, the company source said.

The producer did not plan a turnaround at its plant in 2013 and is running the plant at full operating rates to meet its contractual obligation, despite poor margins, the source added.
