LONDON (ICIS)--Spanish polyethylene terephthalate (PET) producer Novapet has decided to bring forward a maintenance shutdown in Barbastro, Spain from April next year to later this month because of the dire state of the market, a company source said on Friday.
"On 17 October our largest plant will shut down. We are bringing forward a maintenance shutdown from April 2014 because of the market situation," the source said, speaking in Spanish.
The 130,000 tonne/year plant is due to restart on 7 January.
"The other plants will run normally," the source added.
Novapet has a 30,000 tonne/year PET plant as well as a 100,000 tonne/year speciality plant at the same site.
