SINGAPORE (ICIS)--South Korea’s LG Chem will shut its 140,000 tonne/year styrene  butadiene rubber (BR) plant in mid-October for maintenance, a company source said on Wednesday.

“We will shut the SBR plant in Daesan for five days in mid-October for regular maintenance,” the source said.

Spot offers of non-oil grade SBR 1502 have increased by $100-200/tonne (€74-148/tonne) to $2,100-2,200/tonne CFR (cost & freight) Asia for October and November shipments.

Spot offers from major SBR producers have increased because of limited spot availability and rising feedstock butadiene (BD) costs.
