SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Yanshan Petrochemical shut one of its two 70,000 tonne/year high density polyethylene (HDPE) lines in Beijing on 9 October, a company source said on Thursday.
The HDPE line was shut because of a shortage of feedstock ethylene, according to the source, explaining that the cracker is running at a reduced rate of about 80%, but it did not elaborate further.
The source did not disclose when the line will be restarted.
The shutdown of the line is expected to have minimal impact on the domestic HDPE market, because of its small capacity, local distributors said.
