China’s sales of vehicles rise 19.7% to 1.94m units in Sept ‘13

SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China sold approximately 1.94m units of vehicles in September this year, up by 19.7% year on year and 17.4% month on month, official data showed on Friday.

Production of all vehicles in September reached 1.93m units, an increase of 16% year on year and 14.9% month on month, according to data published by China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM).

Sales of passenger cars in China expanded by 21.1% from the same month a year ago to 1.59m units, with production rising by 16.5% over the same period to 1.58m units in September.

In the first three quarters of this year, the country’s sales of vehicles grew by 12.8% year on year to 15.88m units, while production rose by 12.7% to 15.94m units.

From January-September, 12.85m passenger cars were sold, while 12.93m units were produced, representing a year-on-year increase of 14% and 13.7%, respectively.
