LONDON (ICIS)--DSM has signed an agreement with Brazil-based Petropol Polimeros to produce its Akulon-branded polyamide 6 (or nylon 6) compounds for customers in South America, it said on Monday.
“High growth economies like South America are an important growth driver in our DSM strategy,” said Richard Pieters, DSM’s president for engineering plastics in the Americas.
“While we have been serving our customers in this region for many years, we are very pleased to now extend our local presence via the partnership with Petropol,” he added.
Under the agreement, Petropol Polimeros will produce Akulon compounds at its facilities in Maua, Sao Paulo. Netherlands-based material sciences firm DSM will then market and sell the product to its customers throughout South America.
