HOUSTON (ICIS)--The average price for US regular unleaded gasoline at the pump is at $3.35/gal, steady from the price one week ago, AAA said in its Fuel Gauge Report made available on Tuesday.

Last week, the national average rose by fractions of a penny, ending a streak of declines that began more than a month prior.

Despite downward movement in markets recently because of the government shutdown, prices have not plummeted as markets await a decision.

“The continuing federal government shutdown and looming deadline to address the debt ceiling still hang over markets; however, reports of progress in discussions on both topics over the weekend and today have helped to stabilise prices,” said AAA’s Michael Green.

According to AAA, gasoline prices in every state are at least 19 cents/gal less than a year ago, and motorists in five states are paying at least 30 cents/gal less than a month ago.
