LONDON (ICIS)--Saudi Acrylic Polymer Company (SAPCO) said on Wednesday that it has reached mechanical completion of its super absorbent polymers (SAP) plant in Jubail, Saudi Arabia, with commercial production expected in the fourth quarter of the year.

The production capacity of the facility is expected to be around 80,000 tonnes/year, the company said. SAPCO carried out a trial run at the facility in early October.

“With this investment, we’ll contribute to establishing the value chain from oil to diaper production in Saudi Arabia,” said Claus Rettig, head of the Evonik Consumer Specialties Business Unit.

SAPCO is a joint venture established by Evonik Industries and the Saudi Acrylic Acid Company.
