SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Japan’s Idemitsu Kosan cut the run rates at its 265,000 tonne/year paraxylene (PX) unit in Chiba to 80% on Thursday from 100% previously, a company source said.
“Operating rates at the Chiba PX unit has been lowered today,” the source said, adding that the low run rates will stay for “around 10 days”.
The company reduced production at the PX unit following the fire incident at its Chiba refinery on Wednesday morning.
“There will be no impact on PX spot sales or contract volumes because of the lower run rates,” the source said.
In Tokuyama, Idemitsu Kosan’s 214,000 tonne/year PX unit is currently running at full capacity, the source said.
